Apple and Pear Season!

Looking for something to do with all those lovely apples and pears? Try The McClaine House's Fall Fruit Salad. There is savory and sweetness in each bite.
1 apple - peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 ripe pear - peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1/4 cup dried cranberries or golden raisins
1/4 cup walnuts, toasted
4 oz firm blue cheese, crumbled
1/2 red onion, sliced thin (or to taste)
2 TBSP balsamic vinegar
salt & pepper to taste
Place walnuts on cookie sheet, and toast in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes. Remove, allow to cool, and roughly chop.
In a medium-sized bowl, toss together all ingredients.
Serve plain or on a bed of romaine lettuce or mixed greens.
Makes 3-4 servings.
